Pakistan Vows Decisive Response to Regional Aggression

[post-views]

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has asserted that while Pakistan remains committed to peace and regional stability, any aggression or violation of its territorial integrity will be met with a firm and decisive response. His statement comes amid heightened tensions along Pakistan’s western borders and renewed insurgent activity in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Army Chief made these remarks while addressing participants at a national workshop on Balochistan, the country’s resource-rich yet underdeveloped province. He emphasized that Pakistan seeks cooperation, not confrontation, but warned that the state’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness.

In recent weeks, Pakistan has been caught between twin insurgencies—religiously motivated militants such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and ethno-nationalist separatists in Balochistan. Islamabad recently conducted airstrikes in Afghanistan, targeting what it described as TTP-linked hideouts, after a spate of cross-border attacks. The strikes triggered deadly clashes between the two sides before a ceasefire was negotiated in Doha, Qatar.

Field Marshal Munir accused “Indian-sponsored proxies” of fueling unrest through hybrid warfare. Referring to these elements as “Fitna al Hindustan” (Baloch separatists) and “Fitna al Khawarij” (TTP), he said both were working under a malicious agenda to destabilize Pakistan by targeting its peace and development initiatives.
