Pakistan Warns Kabul: Patience Over Cross-Border Terrorism Has Run Out

[post-views]

President Asif Ali Zardari has declared that Pakistan’s tolerance for cross-border terrorism has reached its limit, stressing that recent actions taken by the country are based on its fundamental right to defend its citizens. He said Pakistan had repeatedly warned about threats emerging from across the border, but those warnings were ignored.

The President expressed serious concern over the situation in Afghanistan, stating that the de facto authorities in Kabul — a regime not recognized by the United Nations — have allowed militant groups to operate from Afghan territory. He noted that this violates commitments made under the Doha Accord, which assured that Afghan soil would not be used against any country.

Referring to a recent report by the United Nations Security Council monitoring team, Zardari said the findings confirm Pakistan’s longstanding concerns. The report highlighted the presence of groups such as ISIL-K, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, and Al-Qaida in Afghanistan.

While reaffirming Pakistan’s desire for peaceful and cooperative relations with neighbors, Zardari emphasized that the safety of Pakistani citizens is non-negotiable. He warned that if violence continues, those responsible — wherever they are — will be held accountable.
