Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Won’t Travel to India for World Cup, Confirms PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi

The only constitutional role of a caretaker government is to remain neutral and conduct a fair and transparent elections.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reaffirmed that the national women’s cricket team will not be traveling to India for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, sticking to the previously agreed-upon “hybrid model” for participation.

Naqvi made this clear during his visit to the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground on Saturday. He was there to personally congratulate the Pakistan women’s team on their outstanding performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, where they remained undefeated and secured their spot in the tournament with five straight wins — finishing strong with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh.

When asked about Pakistan’s participation in the World Cup being hosted by India, Naqvi responded, “Pakistan will not travel to India, as this formula has already been agreed upon.” He added that the decision regarding where Pakistan’s matches will be held now rests with the tournament organizers — but made it clear that the team would not be playing on Indian soil.

The “hybrid model” Naqvi referred to was previously used during the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, where, due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, Pakistan played their matches at neutral venues.

He went on to praise the women’s team for their stellar performance during the qualifiers. “When a team plays with unity and focus, results like these follow,” he said. “They’ve made the nation proud and will be rewarded for their efforts.”

Pakistan’s dominant qualifier run included an 87-run win over Thailand before wrapping things up with a decisive victory over Bangladesh.

The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup is set to be held in India later this year, but where Pakistan will play its matches remains to be determined.
