General Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, is currently in Saudi Arabia for an official visit where he met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, as reported by the military’s media wing. Upon his arrival at the Royal Palace, the Army Chief received a warm welcome from the Crown Prince.
According to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two leaders engaged in extensive discussions covering various important topics, including regional peace, defense, security cooperation, and ways to enhance bilateral relations.
During the meeting, General Munir highlighted the Crown Prince’s valuable contributions to promoting peace and security in the region and expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support for Pakistan.
The Army Chief also had a separate meeting with Prince Khalid Bin Salman, the Saudi Defense Minister, where both parties committed to further strengthening their defensive and security collaboration.
Additionally, meetings took place with other senior officials, including the Assistant Minister of Defence Engineer Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi and the Chief of General Staff of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces, Air Chief Marshal Fayyadh Bin Hamed Bin Raqeeb Al Ruwaili, along with the Chief of Royal Saudi Land Forces, Lieutenant General Fahad bin Saud Al-Johani.
This visit comes on the heels of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent trip to Saudi Arabia, where both countries expanded their partnership, raising the collaboration up to $2.8 billion. Earlier in October 2024, a Saudi investment delegation visited Pakistan, resulting in 27 agreements amounting to $2.2 billion.
