RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, held a meeting with the Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan, Ahmad Jawad Rabei, at the General Headquarters on Tuesday, as reported by the ISPR.
During this meeting, COAS General Munir extended his heartfelt condolences for the Palestinian lives lost in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. He expressed deep concern over the relentless violence and the indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians by the Israeli armed forces.
The COAS strongly condemned the continuous attacks on civilian populations, educational institutions, humanitarian workers, medical facilities, and the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, emphasizing that these actions represent clear violations of humanity.
COAS General Munir reemphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to Gaza, the safeguarding of civilians, and strict adherence to International Humanitarian Law.
Furthermore, the army chief reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for an independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
COAS General Munir highlighted that the recent surge in violence in Gaza is a direct result of the unrelenting oppression, long-standing human rights violations, and the deliberate desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by state actors. He stressed that framing this conflict as mere terrorism overlooks the profound and enduring oppression that spans decades, leading to the current crisis.
In conclusion, the army chief urged the international community to act swiftly to bring an end to the unfolding human tragedy, stemming from the disproportionate and unlawful use of force by the Israeli Defense Forces. He called on the world to prevent further atrocities that blatantly violate all principles of civility and humane conduct.
