The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, alongside zonal committees, will gather today, Sunday, March 30, 2025 (corresponding to Ramadan 29, 1446 AH), to observe the Shawwal moon, marking the potential end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The committee’s meeting will take place at 6:00 PM on the rooftop of the Kohsar Block at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee’s chairman, will preside over the session, where religious scholars, meteorologists, and experts will evaluate moon sighting reports from across Pakistan to finalize the official date for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) shared their forecasts for the Ramadan and Shawwal moons using advanced astronomical calculations and modern observational techniques. According to these calculations, the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible today, March 30, suggesting that Eid-ul-Fitr in Pakistan will likely be observed on March 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, several Middle Eastern countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today. The Saudi Royal Court officially confirmed that Saturday marked the last day of Ramadan, and Eid festivities are underway across the Kingdom. Similarly, the UAE has announced the sighting of the Shawwal moon and is also celebrating Eid today.

Other Middle Eastern nations, such as Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran, have also confirmed the crescent moon’s sighting and are observing Eid-ul-Fitr on March 30.
