Pakistan’s New CDF Warns Taliban, Strengthens Tri-Service Command

[post-views]

ISLAMABAD, Dec 9 – Pakistan’s newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, addressed officers of the Army, Navy, and Air Force on Monday, sending a strong message to the Afghan Taliban regime. He stated that the Taliban must choose between fomenting unrest abroad or maintaining peaceful relations with Pakistan.

The warning follows a recent exchange of gunfire and shelling at a major Pakistan-Afghanistan border crossing, resulting in minor injuries on the Pakistani side, while the Afghan side reported casualties. The flare-up comes despite a ceasefire agreement after deadly clashes in October.

During his address at the newly established Defence Forces Headquarters, Field Marshal Munir described the HQ as a historic step to enhance coordination among the three services. He emphasized unified high command while ensuring each branch retains operational autonomy for efficiency and flexibility in multi-domain operations, including cyber, space, AI, and information warfare.

Field Marshal Munir praised the armed forces for their courage during the Marka-e-Haq conflict, calling their multi-domain operations a “textbook example” for future warfare. He warned India that any aggression will be met with a swift and forceful response. The ceremony included a tri-services guard of honour and awards to personnel for acts of valour.
