The Lahore High Court dismissed the petitions against the rejection of the nomination papers of former Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi, former federal minister Hamad Azhar and Sanam Javed.

A three-member full bench headed by Justice Ali Baqer Najafi rejected Elahi’s plea against rejection of nomination papers from four constituencies NA 64, NA 69, PP 32 and PP 34, while Hammad Azhar’s nomination papers NA. 129 were also rejected.

During the hearing, it was requested that the decision of the Returning Officer and the Appellate Tribunal not to give the candidate an opportunity to contest the election should be annulled. However, the court upheld the decision of the RO and the Tribunal.
