The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Pathaan is showing no signs of slowing down. It is tough to believe that less than a month ago, the Siddharth Anand directorial fell prey to boycott trends on social media. With barely any promotional campaigns in its kitty, the film continues to break records at the box office. In its third week of release, it is the only major title playing in theatres across India.
The film debuted on January 25; since then, there haven’t been any significant Bollywood releases. Pathaan made approximately INR60 million on its third Thursday at the box office. As per Box Office Worldwide, the film has collected INR8.87 billion worldwide in 16 days.
On Thursday, February 9, Yash Raj Films (YRF) declared that the film had earned INR4.5 billion nett at the domestic box office, with figures expected to hit INR4.6 billion. YRF reported that the film’s worldwide gross stands at INR8.77 billion, and it looks like it might cross the INR9 billion mark over the weekend.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan has already surpassed the domestic collections of KGF: Chapter 2, making it the second highest-grosser in the Hindi market. The film that leads the list is SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which earned INR5.1 billion. Pathaan could potentially cross Baahubali 2’s numbers during its run and emerge as the most extensive domestic grosser in the Hindi market.
An update by trade analyst Nishit Shaw stated Pathaan has become the second-highest Indian grosser at the North American box office. The film has made a total sum of $14.85 million and gone past the lifetime earnings of RRR ($14.80 million). It is currently ranked second on the list. Dangal ($12.391 million) and Padmaavat ($ 12.17 million) are the bottom two in the top five list.
