The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is pondering over appointing former speedster Shoaib Akhtar as the national team’s bowling consultant, as reported by The Republic News on Wednesday.

Following the appointment of Shahid Afridi to the PCB’s management committee, the cricket board is now weighing the option of bringing on the right-arm fast bowler for his vast knowledge in the sport.

It is speculated that Akhtar may be given a significant role for the national team in the near future, according to the reports. Sources indicate that the former star bowler has already been approached and has expressed interest in working to enhance the performance of the players.

Akhtar is scheduled to meet with the chairman of the PCB management committee, Najam Sethi, in Lahore. During this meeting, it is expected that the former bowler will be offered a position within the PCB.
