The federal government has announced a price hike for petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next two weeks, starting December 1.
Petrol prices will go up by Rs3.72, from Rs248.38 to Rs252.10 per litre. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel will increase by Rs3.29, from Rs255.14 to Rs258.43 per litre.
According to the Finance Division, the increase in fuel prices is based on changes in international market rates, as calculated by the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
This price rise will affect middle and lower-middle-class families, as petrol is mainly used in private vehicles, rickshaws, and motorcycles. Diesel, which is essential for heavy transport, farming equipment, and public transport, also drives up the cost of goods and services, particularly food prices.
