In the early hours of Sunday, Police rescued missing PTI focal person Intezar Panjutha in Attock, Punjab. He was reportedly abandoned by his alleged abductors near the Hassan Abdal Police Station.
A suspicious vehicle travelling from Islamabad to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was flagged by Police on the GT Road. When the vehicle did not stop, a blockade was set up, causing the abductors to flee, leaving both the vehicle and Panjutha behind.
Panjutha was found with his hands and feet bound. Authorities untied him, gave him water, and moved him to a secure location. Earlier, Attorney-General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan had assured the Islamabad High Court that Panjutha would be found within 24 hours. Following his recovery, Police are now searching for the fleeing abductors.
The incident highlights ongoing security concerns and the need for effective measures to prevent such abductions in the future.
However, PTI denied the claim of the Police and called it a fabricated story. They believed that Panjutha was abducted due to political reasons. Lately, there have been a number of incidents where the fundamental rights of political workers were denied. Therefore, it is critical that the rule of law and fundamental rights of the political workers be ensured and guaranteed.
