Pope Francis has issued a heartfelt appeal for an end to the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict, expressing deep concerns about its potential escalation. During his customary Angelus prayer in Saint Peter’s Square, Rome, the Pope emphasized the devastating impact of war and made a passionate plea, saying, “Stop, Stop! Brothers, stop.”
The conflict began on October 7 when Hamas launched an attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip, resulting in the tragic loss of over 1,400 lives. Israel’s airstrikes, as reported by the Hamas-run health ministry, have led to the deaths of more than 4,600 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilians. This has left densely populated areas in Gaza in ruins, contributing to the escalating humanitarian crisis.
