On Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari gave his approval for the appointment of three new judges to the Supreme Court, subsequent to the issuance of an official notification by the Federal Ministry of Law.
The recently appointed justices include Justice Malik Shahzad, who previously served as the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, Justice Shahid Bilal, who held the position of Judge at Lahore High Court, and Justice Aqeel Abbasi, the former Chief Justice of Sindh High Court.
In a simultaneous development, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, a highly experienced jurist from Lahore High Court, has been designated as the Acting Chief Justice of Lahore High Court according to an official notification.

Likewise, Justice Shafi Siddiqui, a respected senior judge of Sindh High Court, has been assigned the role of Acting Chief Justice for his region.
The swearing-in ceremony for the three newly appointed judges to the Supreme Court will be officiated by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
