Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a nationwide education emergency on International Literacy Day, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the government, private sector, and civil organizations. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting education and declared literacy as a fundamental human and constitutional right essential for the nation’s future.

The government also aims to address the lack of access to education, high dropout rates, and integration of technology into the educational system. Additionally, initiatives such as scholarships, mid-day meals, and enrollment campaigns have been launched to ensure every child has the opportunity to complete their education. Furthermore, the establishment of the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund aims to support higher education for children from low-income families, with a special quota allocated for the youth of Balochistan.
