Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Address UN General Assembly, Emphasize Palestine and Kashmir Issues

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to speak at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York tonight. During his address, he is expected to raise the issues of Palestine and Kashmir. The Foreign Office has stated that the Prime Minister will emphasize the importance of addressing long-standing issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council, such as the Palestine and Kashmir issues. Additionally, he will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and express support for the UN’s role in promoting global peace, security, and prosperity.

PM Shehbaz is also expected to highlight the impacts of climate change, Pakistan’s efforts in fighting terrorism, challenges faced by debt-burdened countries, India’s occupation of Kashmir, and the ongoing conflict in Palestine. Other leaders, including Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Bangladesh leader Muhammad Yunus, are also scheduled to address the UNGA during this session. PM Shehbaz has also held meetings with leaders from Iraq and Nepal on the sidelines of the UNGA to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
