Pakistan and India exchanged rosters of detainees held in each other’s custody on Saturday, utilizing diplomatic channels to adhere to a previously signed accord between the two nations.
The comprehensive list was formally delivered to a representative of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Simultaneously, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs reciprocated by presenting the catalog of Pakistani prisoners in Indian confinement to the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
“In accordance with the stipulations of the 2008 Consular Access Agreement, the Pakistani government today provided the Indian High Commission in Islamabad with a compilation of 308 Indian detainees in Pakistan (including 42 civilian prisoners and 266 fishermen),” declared an official statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
