ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has announced that PTI-backed independent candidates who won from the National Assembly, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assemblies in the general elections will join the Sunni Etihad Council as a party.

PTI’s announcement came after a formal agreement with the Sunni Alliance Council.

“Our successful candidates have filed their affidavits with us and today we are announcing that the PTI-backed candidates are joining the Sunni Alliance Council,” Gauhar said during a press conference.

He said that specific seats in the federal and provincial assemblies are allotted according to the strength of the political parties in the houses.

So, to secure our reserved seats and protect our members, we have entered into a formal agreement under which our candidates will join the Sunni Etihad Council,” Gauhar said.
