ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan acknowledged that he utilized funds amounting to $3 million that were given to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT) for a housing development, according to The Republic Policy on Sunday.

This disclosure was made during a hearing for a defamation case of Rs10 billion that was filed against Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Saturday. The former prime minister participated in the court proceeding from his Lahore residence in Zaman Park through a video link.

Additional Sessions Judge Umeed Ali Baloch presided over the case. Both Asif and Khan’s legal representative were present in the court during the hearing. The defence minister’s attorney, Barrister Haider Rasul, interrogated Khan, posing queries regarding the investment in a private housing development using SKMT funds.

The PTI chief acknowledged investing the funds in the development, stating that the SKMT board informed him of the investment. However, he stated that he is not able to recall the name of the development now.
