ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and Chief Justice of Pakistan as well as the immediate return of rigged seats in Rawalpindi.
This demand of PTI came after Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta accused Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa of involvement in rigging.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, PTI said that Liaquat Ali Chatta’s confession of election rigging vindicates PTI’s stand on election theft.
The spokesman said that Liaquat Ali Chatta’s disclosure exposes the nefarious character of those who are involved in the conspiracy to steal public mandate under the cover of darkness.
He said it was now clear that the winning PTI-backed independent candidates, who were strongly supported by the people, were replaced by losers on the night.
After Liaquat Ali Chatta claimed responsibility for election rigging in Rawalpindi, a PTI spokesperson said Sikandar Sultan Raja has no legal or moral justification to continue as Chief Election Commissioner.
He demanded that all officers involved in this conspiracy, including Chief Election Commissioner and Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz, should immediately resign from their posts.
The spokesman said that in the light of Chatta’s statement, the stolen 86 seats of PTI should be returned immediately by recounting the votes as per Form 45.
He said that after extensive evidence of massive election rigging, all the involved criminals should be prosecuted according to the constitution and law.
The spokesman further said that the returned mandate of the people should be immediately returned to their real leaders who are the founders of Tehreek-e-Insaf and PTI itself, on whom the people have shown full confidence through their votes.
