Punjab Assembly Plans New Laws to Combat Fake News

Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan announced that new laws to tackle fake news are being developed. During a meeting with a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) delegation, he mentioned that the Punjab government is working on measures to curb fake news on social media.

He praised the UNDP’s efforts in this area and suggested they hold sessions to educate people about fake news, aligning their goals with those of the government. He assured them of full government support in this fight.

Khan emphasized that everyone has the right to access the truth, but many are being misled by false information on social media. He also mentioned the need to revise educational materials to promote responsible social media use and help eliminate fake news.

The UNDP delegation appreciated his focus on this issue and offered to help the Punjab Assembly organize awareness sessions for a safer digital environment.
