LAHORE: The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, met with former President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday to discuss the formation of a temporary government in Punjab.
According to a press release, the two leaders discussed the current political situation in Punjab following the dissolution of the assembly, and also contacted senior members of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) to discuss the caretaker setup.
Additionally, Shujaat Hussain congratulated Zardari on the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) success in the second phase of the local government elections in Sindh. The meeting was also attended by federal minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain and Chaudhry Shafay Hussain.
Separately, PML-Q leader Parvez Elahi announced three potential candidates for the role of caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab after consulting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
