The Punjab Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested 14 terrorists, including senior commanders of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaatul Ahrar, in a series of intelligence-based operations across eight cities in the province.
The CTD conducted the operations in Lahore, Khushab, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Toba Tek Singh, Gujrat, and Sahiwal in response to credible threats of terrorism.
The arrested terrorists were planning attacks on sensitive installations, the CTD said. Explosive material, weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades were seized from them.
588 Combing Operations Conducted, 79 Suspects Arrested
This week alone, the CTD conducted 588 combing operations and arrested 79 suspects. Over 25,000 people were interrogated during these operations.
The CTD’s actions are part of a broader effort to crack down on terrorism in Punjab. The province has been plagued by terrorist attacks in recent years, but the CTD has made significant progress in its fight against terrorism.
The arrest of these 14 terrorists is a major blow to the TTP and Jamaatul Ahrar. It will help to disrupt their activities and prevent them from carrying out attacks.
The CTD deserves praise for its efforts to protect the people of Punjab from terrorism. Its actions have helped to make the province a safer place.
