The Punjab government has placed a ban on all political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, protests, and similar activities in Rawalpindi Division for two days. This move comes in anticipation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned protest in the city. The former ruling party initially intended to hold a rally, which was later converted into a demonstration. Additionally, security measures have been heightened with the cancellation of police leave, deployment of additional forces, and the sealing of various areas in Rawalpindi.

The PTI has vowed to proceed with the protest despite not having obtained a no-objection certificate (NOC). The party has also announced plans for demonstrations in Islamabad and Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan monument. Senior party officials and elected lawmakers have been instructed to mobilize workers from various districts for the event, while police are monitoring hotels and inns to ensure security during the protest.
