At least six people lost their lives and dozens were injured in rain-related incidents across Punjab on Monday as widespread monsoon showers inundated low-lying areas, disrupted power supply, and triggered multiple roof collapses.
According to official data, Lahore received 20.9mm of rain, Okara 72mm, Sahiwal 66mm, Dera Ghazi Khan 51mm, Mianwali 38mm, Bahawalpur 36mm, Kot Addu 33mm, Gujranwala 30mm, Layyah 23mm, and Murree 22mm over the last 24 hours. Rain was also reported in several other cities, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Multan, and Rahim Yar Khan.
In Okara, lightning killed two farm workers near Haveli Lakkha, while 19 people sustained injuries in various incidents, according to Rescue 1122. In Bahawalnagar, the collapse of a seminary roof in Minchinabad claimed the lives of two students and injured 12 others. Sahiwal reported one death and two injuries in roof collapse incidents in Arifwala. In Kasur, a woman was killed while her husband and son were injured after a roof caved in due to heavy rain in Nathowala village. Four more people were critically injured in Toba Tek Singh in a similar incident.
