Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari revealed that the top leadership of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has fled Punjab and gone underground following recent violent protests, assuring that arrests are imminent. Speaking on Geo Pakistan, she said law enforcement agencies are actively tracking them and that “good news will come soon.”

Bokhari clarified that the TLP should not be treated as a political entity. “It is not a political or religious party but a mindset that exploits faith for profit,” she remarked, alleging that its operators collected funds in the name of religion and even earned interest on those transactions.

The minister accused the group of repeatedly inciting violence and chaos to pressure the state, stressing that the leadership now intends to correct past leniencies. She confirmed that during recent talks, TLP’s demands were only about reclaiming valuables and compensations, not Gaza or Palestine.

The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has re-imposed a ban on TLP under the Anti-Terrorism Act, citing its continued violent activities despite earlier assurances of restraint.
