Sunday brought a refreshing twist to the weather as abundant rain showered several regions of Punjab, much to the delight of the heat-weary populace. The Meteorological Department has further predicted a continuation of rainfall over the next 24 hours.
As the heavens opened up, cities such as Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Chunian, Kasur, Bahawalnagar, and Arifwala were treated to intermittent downpours, providing respite from the scorching temperatures.
In Lahore, raindrops graced various parts of the city, including Mall Road, Garhi Shahu, Multan Road, and Johar Town. The provincial capital experienced a significant decline in humidity and temperature after a gentle drizzle, making the weather all the more pleasant.
According to the experts at the Meteorological Department, Lahore can anticipate intermittent rain in the coming 24 hours, ensuring a cool and refreshing atmosphere.
However, the heavy rainfall led to the inundation of low-lying areas in Gujranwala, Kasur, and Okara, causing some distress. Gujranwala, in particular, was drenched in a torrential downpour during the early hours, wreaking havoc in vulnerable regions.
Satellite Town, People’s Colony, Sialkot Road, and Sheranwala Gate in Gujranwala found themselves submerged in rainwater, highlighting the inadequacies of the district administration’s preparations. Heavy rainfall persisted in Gujranwala for a staggering three hours, exposing the vulnerabilities of the infrastructure.

Despite the challenges posed by the deluge, the rainfall has brought a much-needed reprieve to the sweltering conditions, invigorating the spirit of the residents and providing a momentary respite from the scorching summer.
