Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In a thrilling turn of events at SuperSport Park on Sunday, Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen led South Africa to a stunning two-wicket victory over Pakistan on the fourth day of the first Test. With 148 runs needed to win, South Africa was on the brink of defeat at 99 for 8, thanks to an outstanding 6 for 54 by Mohammad Abbas.

However, Rabada, known for his bowling prowess, stepped up as a batting hero, smashing an unbeaten 31 off just 26 balls. Jansen supported him solidly with a crucial 16 not out. Despite Abbas’s relentless 19.3-over spell, Pakistan’s efforts fell short, and South Africa managed to pull off an unforgettable victory.

This win secured South Africa’s qualification for the 2024 World Test Championship Final in England, where they will face either Australia or India.

The match saw a strong start from Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma, but key wickets fell in quick succession as Pakistan fought hard. Rabada and Jansen’s brilliant partnership, however, sealed the game, much to the delight of the home crowd.
