The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Wednesday that the moon for the month of Rabiul Awwal was not sighted. Consequently, the Islamic month is scheduled to commence on September 6 (Friday), with Eid-i-Miladun Nabi falling on September 17.

The decision was reached during a meeting of the committee chaired by Abdul Khabeer Azad in Islamabad and attended by religious scholars from diverse schools of thought as well as weather experts.

Abdul Khabeer Azad, the committee chairman, explained during a press conference that due to the lack of reports on moon sighting, it was unanimously decided that the 1st of Rabiul Awwal would fall on September 6, and the 12th of Rabiul Awwal on September 17.

He emphasized that the committee aimed to make decisions based on visual testimonies and Islamic law through consensus but faced challenges due to cloudy conditions, making moon sighting a difficult task.

Moreover, it is customary for Muslims worldwide to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, known as Mawlid al-Nabawi holiday in Arabic, which falls on September 17.
