Israel’s military leader, Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, has issued a stark call to action, declaring “the time for war is now,” marking a significant intensification of the conflict with the Palestinian resistance faction Hamas.
As a precautionary measure, Israel has positioned tanks in close proximity to the Gaza Strip, suggestive of preparations for a potential ground incursion.
Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, at the helm of Israel’s military, acknowledged the security vulnerabilities around Gaza that allowed the recent attacks to occur. While he emphasized the need for learning and thorough investigation, he left no room for ambiguity as he stated, “Now is the moment for war.”
The present crisis was ignited by a series of deadly assaults orchestrated by Hamas, culminating in the deadliest attack in Israel’s history. Israel’s state broadcaster, Kan, has reported a death toll surpassing 1,300, with numerous Israeli and foreign captives taken to Gaza. Israel has managed to confirm the identities of 97 of these hostages.
In retaliation for these attacks, Israel has implemented a blockade around Gaza and initiated a relentless bombing campaign that has resulted in the obliteration of entire neighborhoods.
