Lahore: The hearing of the application against the independent candidate Salman Akram Raja in the general elections to be held on February 8 will be held today (Wednesday) in the Lahore High Court.
A division bench headed by Justice Baqir Ali Najafi will hear the case.
A day earlier, Raja filed a petition challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan’s decision to declare him an independent candidate for the February 8 polls.
He requested the court to direct the Election Commission to include his name as a PTI candidate in the ballot paper.
Salman’s lawyer Samira Khosa said in the petition that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been registered as a political party in the ECP records since 1996, but it has been stripped of its electoral symbol ‘bat’ for not holding intra-party elections. Deprived. But it still exists as a political party.
Raja is contesting from NA-128 constituency as a PTI candidate.
