Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has strongly denounced the “heinous” attacks on Gaza’s civilian population and issued a warning regarding potential “dangerous repercussions” if the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas escalates further, according to state media reports on Thursday.

Crown Prince Mohammed, who serves as the de facto ruler of the Gulf kingdom, made these remarks during a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Prior to his visit to Riyadh, Prime Minister Sunak had engaged with Israeli leaders, urging them to facilitate greater humanitarian aid access to Gaza.

The official Saudi Press Agency conveyed the Crown Prince’s sentiments, noting that he “emphasized the kingdom’s condemnation of the deliberate targeting of Gaza’s civilians as a heinous crime and a brutal assault.” He stressed the urgent need to ensure the protection of Gaza’s civilian population.

Furthermore, Crown Prince Mohammed emphasized the importance of exerting all possible efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent a further spread of violence, citing the potential hazards this could pose to regional and global security and peace.

This statement comes in the context of the recent incursion by Hamas militants into Israel from the Gaza Strip on October 7, resulting in significant casualties, primarily among civilians, as reported by Israeli authorities.
