The Supreme Court’s Registrar’s Office has given PTI the brush-off, declining their challenge to the appointment of Mohsin Naqvi as the caretaker CM of Punjab. The objections raised by the office included the use of “off-color language” in the petition.
The request, submitted by PTI General-Secretary Asad Umar on January 27, aimed to contest the appointment of the interim CM along with that of Raja Riaz as the opposition leader in the National Assembly and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The petition, filed under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, argued that Naqvi lacked political, administrative and legal experience. The Registrar’s Office declared the petition “unfit for consideration” due to technical issues. The first issue cited by the office was the choice of article under which the petition was filed.
