LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has implemented Section 144 across the province in view of the law and order situation and possible threats to public peace before the general elections on February 8.
According to the notification, the Punjab Home Department highlighted the danger associated with the significant number of public gatherings, rallies and corner meetings related to the upcoming elections, which could potentially become dangerous targets for terrorists and miscreants.
The notification, pointing out the historical context, said that clashes between candidates contesting in different areas and rival political parties/groups cannot be ruled out, which pose threats to law and order in the province.
Keeping security concerns in mind, the Home Department has imposed Section 144 till February 12 banning the following actions across Punjab.
