Security forces kill nine militants in Bajaur as residents evacuate for targeted operation

[post-views]

Security forces have killed nine terrorists during an ongoing targeted operation in Bajaur’s Damadola area, officials said on Thursday. The operation, based on credible intelligence, involves ground and aerial assets to clear militant hideouts in Lowi Mamund and War Mamund tehsils. Bodies of the slain militants were recovered from caves and hideouts. The ISPR has yet to issue an official statement.

The district administration has ordered residents of 26 areas, including Malangi, Damadola, and Mula Kalley, to evacuate by August 16 for their safety. Official transport has been arranged to move families to relief camps in Khar. Authorities say the clearance will help eliminate the militant presence permanently.

The evacuation follows public protests over civilian casualties, including a woman and two children killed in Lowi Mamund earlier this week. Political leaders have urged authorities to safeguard civilians and compensate for property damage.

From Friday, registration of displaced families will begin at the Utman Khail complex, offering each household Rs75,000 — Rs50,000 for arrival and Rs25,000 for transport. Payments will be made digitally by the KP government, which has approved Rs5 billion in relief funds. Non-food items have also been distributed at camps, including the Bajaur Sports Complex.
