Four militants were eliminated in a firefight that occurred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan, as announced by the military’s media branch on Wednesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the operation was executed to neutralize a “hideout of militants, connected with firing incidents on security personnel and civilians as well as planting of makeshift explosive devices on M-8, in the general area of Talsar, Hoshab”.

The ISPR stated that security forces were deployed via helicopter after the militant hideout was pinpointed with the assistance of ongoing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance of the area.

“While the establishment of blocking positions to cut the escape routes was underway, four militants opened fire onto the security forces,” said the ISPR. It added that the four militants were killed during the heavy exchange of fire that took place. A cache of arms and ammunition including improvised explosive devices were also recovered.
