Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, beginning Monday in New York. Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, senior ministers, and officials, the Prime Minister is expected to project Pakistan’s voice on pressing international and regional challenges before the global forum.
In his keynote address to the General Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif will emphasize the urgent need for the international community to resolve the long-standing issues of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine, both rooted in prolonged occupation and the denial of self-determination. He is also expected to draw attention to the escalating crisis in Gaza and press for decisive global action to end the suffering of Palestinians.
The Prime Minister’s address will also highlight Pakistan’s perspective on regional security, as well as broader international concerns, including climate change, terrorism, Islamophobia, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals. In addition to multilateral events, Shehbaz Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders and senior UN officials.
