South Africa Crush India by 76 Runs to End 12-Match T20 World Cup Streak

[post-views]

South Africa delivered a stunning performance to end India’s 12-match winning run at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, thrashing the defending champions by 76 runs in their Super Eights clash in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first, South Africa recovered from a shaky 20-3 start thanks to a fighting 63 from David Miller and 45 by Dewald Brevis. The pair steadied the innings before Tristan Stubbs smashed an unbeaten 44 off 24 balls, powering the total to 187-7.

In reply, India’s batting collapsed under relentless pressure. Left-arm pacer Marco Jansen led the charge with 4-22, while spinner Keshav Maharaj claimed 3-24, dismantling the middle order. India were bowled out for just 111 in 18.5 overs, despite a late 42 from Shivam Dube.

The defeat not only snapped India’s unbeaten streak dating back to 2022 but also dented their net run rate in a tight Super Eights group. To stay in contention, India must now win their remaining matches against Zimbabwe and the West Indies.
