The race for supremacy in North American cinemas this weekend saw the same contenders as last week, with “The Flash” being overtaken by the newest installment of “Spider-Man.”

The highly anticipated release of the irreverent comedy “No Hard Feelings” and Wes Anderson’s latest creation, “Asteroid City,” failed to surpass the box office champions from the previous weekend. However, industry analysts noted that both films performed admirably within their respective genres.

According to estimates from Exhibitor Relations on Sunday, Sony’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” raked in $19.3 million over the weekend. This impressive figure propelled its domestic earnings to over $317 million, with additional screenings in international theaters propelling its global box office total to a staggering $560 million.

The film, a sequel to 2018’s “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and the latest interpretation of the beloved Marvel Comics superhero, continues the captivating journey of Miles Morales, a character who is half-Black and half-Latino, voiced by the talented Shameik Moore.

Meanwhile, Pixar’s enchanting animated tale of immigration, “Elemental,” maintained its hold on the second spot from last week, amassing $18.4 million in ticket sales. The film’s cumulative earnings now stand at an impressive $65 million.
