Print Friendly, PDF & Email

State Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja addressed concerns over recent internet disruptions faced by users across the country. While acknowledging public outrage over the issue, she denied the government’s involvement in blocking or slowing down the internet in Pakistan.

Instead, she attributed the problem to the use of virtual private networks (VPNs) by internet users, which she claimed were causing slowdowns. Khawaja also mentioned the government’s efforts to address the internet connectivity issue, including the laying of four additional internet cables. In addition to discussing internet-related matters, she shared plans for introducing 5G spectrum in the country and highlighted the government’s initiatives to boost the IT sector, including the establishment of IT parks and e-employment centers in collaboration with provinces.
