Suicide Blast at Peace Committee Member’s House Kills Five in DI Khan

[post-views]

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, KHYBER-PAKHTUNKHWA — At least five people were killed and around 20 injured when a suicide bomber struck a wedding at the home of Noor Alam Mehsud, head of a local peace (aman) committee, near Qureshi Mor on Friday night. The explosion occurred as several committee members and guests were attending the ceremony.

K-P Rescue 1122 teams rushed the injured to hospitals, deploying multiple ambulances and disaster response vehicles. Authorities recovered the remains of the bomber at the scene. Officials warned the casualty count could rise due to the number of attendees.

K-P Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the attack, directed immediate medical care for the injured, and called for swift investigations. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also emphasized relief and support for victims’ families.

Mehsud, previously targeted in a 2022 suicide attack, has faced repeated threats. Dera Ismail Khan, bordering Balochistan and South Waziristan, has seen a steady rise in militant incidents, with 111 attacks reported from 2020–2025, claiming 71 police lives and injuring over 100 others. The district remains a hotspot of militant violence despite ongoing security operations.
