The Supreme Court of Pakistan made a decision on Tuesday to reject Farooq H. Naik’s request to suspend the ruling concerning NAB amendments. The court also adjourned the hearing until the detailed judgement of the Practice and Procedure Act case is announced.
This decision came during the court’s consideration of the first intra-court appeals (ICAs) against its previous judgment, which was announced on September 15. The earlier judgment had been made by a three-member bench, led by former Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, which had voted 2-1 to strike down amendments to the accountability law.
In accordance with a short ruling issued by the full court on October 11 regarding the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Act 2023, which aimed to regulate the affairs of the apex court while limiting the power of the Chief Justice, a five-member bench took up the appeal.
