The manhunt for the suspect in the killing of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk has ended with the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the news alongside former President Donald Trump, who told Fox News that Kirk’s shooter was “finally in custody.” Cox added that Robinson’s family members provided key information, leading investigators to him.

Kirk, 31, a prominent right-wing commentator and close Trump ally, was shot in the neck while addressing 3,000 people at Utah Valley University. He was rushed to hospital but later died. Trump called Kirk “like a son” and the “finest person,” urging the death penalty for Robinson. The shooting has already triggered widespread tributes and equally fierce partisan anger.

Investigators revealed that Robinson had grown more political in recent years and was described by acquaintances as “full of hate” toward Kirk. Surveillance footage placed him at the campus, and a high-powered bolt-action rifle was recovered nearby. Robinson now faces aggravated murder charges and could also face federal prosecution.

Governor Cox described Kirk’s killing as a “watershed in American history,” while conservatives framed it as proof of deepening hostility toward Trump’s movement. Whether this tragedy marks an end to political violence—or a descent into darker conflict—remains an open question for America.
