A court in London has delivered a verdict against the current and former top brass of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), including Altaf Hussain and Syed Tariq Mir, for failure to pay nearly £1.5 million in taxes to the UK government’s revenue agency, known as His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
The judgment, which was issued by Judge Henley of Northampton County Court, comes as a result of an application by HMRC in their ongoing legal battle with the MQM leadership over tax and income matters.
The default judgment has been levied against MQM’s leader and founder, Altaf Hussain, as well as Tariq Mir, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammed Kalimullah Syed, all of whom are implicated in the case brought forth by HMRC.
