The Election Commission has issued a notification for reserved seats for minorities and women in the Punjab and Sindh Assemblies

Islamabad: The Election Commission has released the details of reserved seats for women and minorities in Sindh and Punjab Assemblies.

In the notification of the Sindh Assembly, it has been clarified that the People’s Party has been given 20 seats for women and 6 seats for minorities. Apart from this, MQM Pakistan has won 6 seats and GDA 1 seat. MQM Pakistan won 2 minority seats.

Notification has been issued for reserved seats for Punjab Assembly in which Muslim League (N) has won 36 seats for women, PPP three, Muslim League (Q) two and IPP affiliated woman. A seat has been allocated for

Decisions on one minority and two women seats in the Sindh Assembly are pending.

Similarly, a decision could not be taken on the specific seats of the Sindh Assembly for the independent candidates affiliated to the Sunni Unity Council.

In the Sindh Assembly, GDA got 3 seats, People’s Party got 114 seats and MQM got 36 seats.

Out of the 66 seats reserved for women in the Punjab Assembly, the Election Commission has not allocated 24 seats.

Similarly, out of the eight seats reserved for minorities, no party was elected separately. In terms of numerical representation, the quota for women in the Sunni Unity Council is 24, with three seats for minorities.

The Election Commission will finalize the allotment today.
