The Failed Political Choices of Imran Khan !

[post-views]

Editorial

Ideological parties have always have their nursery. They do not rely upon rent-a-politicians. Then, in Pakistan, it is nearly impossible to rely on electives.
Then, political parties must learn from their mistakes. Let’s talk about the choices of Imran Khan. 1n, 2013 PTI won the KPK government and appointed Pervez Khattak ( A traditional political veteran) their chief minister. Soon, the party came under the clouds; he left the party and announced Pakistan Tehreeke Insaaf Parliamentarians. 1n, 2018, PTI appointed Mahmood Khan and Usman Buzdar as chief ministers of KPK and Punjab. Both have left the party. Similarly, the prime minister of AJK, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, was the case. So much so that, despite being in the majority, the PTI members defected in large numbers in Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK.

Thus, the political choices of Imran Khan failed. No single person left in the party could unite and lead PTI without Imran Khan. The only issue PTI faces right now is the need for more leadership. Therefore, PTI needed to evolve and develop its leadership. Even now, they can rely upon its nursery. They are almost 70 per cent popular and, with the induction of their nursery in leadership roles, they still can build it from ashes.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervez Elahi and many other electives will never take the party forward. PTI has only one chance to rely on its nursery and move forward. The earlier choices of Imran Khan badly failed. He was unable to choose loyal, intelligent and able political administrators. He knowingly elected weak and shabby political administrators. Now, he and PTI have to cultivate the crop. Lastly, there is only political vertical growth in its nursery.

It is still three months to go before the general elections in 2023. PTI has two principal decisions to make. Who will lead PTI if Imran Khan is disqualified or jailed? Will it be like Shah Mahmood Qureshi or a functional core committee? The question is who will award tickets and to whom tickets will be awarded. If PTI settles these two fundamental questions, it can come into a position to win the general elections because most popular votes are with PTI.
