The caretaker government increased the gas prices across Pakistan.

According to sources, there will be an increase of Rs 100 per mmbtu for protected consumers, while for unprotected consumers there will be a higher increase of Rs 300 per mmbtu.

According to the sources, the commercial gas consumers will also face a substantial increase in the prices of Rs.900 per mmbtu.

The CNG sector is also not exempt from this adjustment, with a significant price hike of Rs 170 per mmbtu, according to sources. Additionally, fertilizer factories will face a slight increase in gas rates.

The ECC meeting of the Cabinet was held in Islamabad in which the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) proposed to increase the sales tax for manufacturing and assembling vehicles in the auto sector at the local level.

After a detailed discussion, the ECC Cabinet approved the process of fixing the sales tax rate of 25% on locally manufactured and assembled vehicles.

Under the approved proposal, 25% sales tax will be imposed on vehicles worth Rs 40 lakh or vehicles with 1400cc engine, while the same tax is expected to be imposed in the upcoming budget.

The implementation of 25% sales tax on 1400 cc vehicles is likely to increase the prices.
