Earlier on August 12, the ISPR had disclosed that Hameed was placed under military custody and that a field court martial process had been initiated against the former spy chief. This action was taken following a detailed court of inquiry conducted by the Pakistan Army in response to complaints in the Top City case against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (retd), as mandated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Consequently, disciplinary action has been launched against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (retd) in accordance with the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act. Furthermore, multiple breaches of the Pakistan Army Act following retirement have been established. As a result, a Field General Court Martial process has been initiated, and Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (retd) has been placed under military custody.
