On Wednesday, republic News reported that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) gave former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a clean chit in the Toshakhana vehicle reference.
Today, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) fulfilled its duty by submitting a report regarding the Toshakhana reference to the accountability court.
According to the report, in 2008, then-premier Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani offered Nawaz Sharif the opportunity to buy a car. Nawaz Sharif chose to purchase a car from the federal transport pool, not the Toshakhana, as alleged.
The bureau urged the accountability court to acquit or discharge Nawaz from the reference.
NAB had filed the Toshakhana reference against President Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz, Gilani, and others for allegedly acquiring three vehicles, including a BMW 750 Li model 2004, a Toyota Lexus Jeep 472 model 2007 gifted by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and a BMW 760 LI model 2008 gifted by the Embassy of Libya and gifts from Toshakhana.
