Donald Trump’s campaign announced on Sunday that there were gunshots near him, but assured the public that the Republican presidential candidate was unharmed.

According to a statement from his campaign spokesman Steven Cheung, “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”

Media reports indicated that Trump was golfing at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, not far from his Mar-a-Lago residence during a break from the presidential campaign.

The incident raised concerns for Trump’s safety, especially coming just two months after he was involved in another shooting incident during a rally in Pennsylvania.

The identity of the person who fired the shots was unclear, and there was no immediate evidence that Trump was the intended target. Reports suggested that the gunfire may have stemmed from a dispute between two individuals near the golf course.

With the Pennsylvania shooting still fresh in mind, the US Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidents, former presidents, and other dignitaries, faced criticism. Following the Pennsylvania incident, the agency’s director resigned, and at least five of its agents were put on administrative leave.
